FCC says u get 2 txt 911 [21st century 911]
On Tuesday November 23, an FCC chairman announced their plans to revoloutionize the nation-wide emergency response, 911. Their plans include broadband, being able to text 911, and MMS 911, and devices being able to dispatch emergency services.
Why Texting?
Texting 911 can prove to be a life-saving option. If you are in a position were talking can jeopardize your well-being, such as hiding in a hostile situation, sending a text message can be the most helpful option. Also, this can help the deaf or hard-of-hearing in requesting emergency assistance.
Why MMS?
MMS will a great tool that can help law enforcements "catch the bad guys". If there was a robbery you can take a picture of it and send it to 911. You might even be able to record suspicious activity and send it to a dispatcher.

Greenpois0n iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak coming your way...
The Tweet
A tweet by @p0sixninja says that the Greenpois0n will be updated to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 within the next couple of days. Sadly, this is not going to be an untethered jailbreak. The good news is it will be a tethered or semi tethered jailbreak. Semi-tethered should be enough to entice those discouraged by a tethered jailbreak.
What is a Semi-Tethered jailbreak?
Contrary to an untethered jailbreak that you can turn your phone on and off without any problems a semi-tethered jailbreak will allow you turn your phone on but you will not be able to use or launch any jailbreak tweaks, themes or applications. This is also contrasted to a tethered jailbreak that will not allow you to use your device at all until you rerun the jailbreaking software on your computer if you reboot.

The Tweaks your App Switcher Has Been Begging For
App Switcher Rotator
This is a particularly useful tweak when you are in landscape mode. When you are in landscape mode the icons rotate to be easily readable in landscape orientation. The great thing is, it rotates the icons only and the icon drawer changing very little. Also it provides a bit an animation when the order of items in the drawer changes. After which the icons slide back into their new places.
App Switcher Brightness
This is a useful app similar to App Switcher Volume. Beneath the play, pause, next, and previous buttons it displays a slider that controls your screens brightness. This is a nice way to do so in an integrated way as opposed to SB Settings that requires: activation, entering a sub-menu, and then changing the brightness. It is important to not that this will conflict with App Switcher Volume. Right now, App Switcher Volume seems obsolete unless you have broken volume buttons.

MyWi updated
fixes and improvements.
If you don't know what MyWi is, it is an application that allows you to tether your iPhone to any device capable of Ad-hoc Wi-Fi. It creates a portable hotpot allowing for incredibly easy tethering. It costs $19.99. Many have complained of the so called "steep" price of the application. However, if you did the traditional US AT&T tethering you would have to downgrade to 2GB AND pay an extra $20! For everyone out there who is lucky enough to have US T-Mobile or anything but AT&T , count your blessings :)
4.8 Updates
● Fix for 4.1 USB users
● Fix for when WiFi is Powered Off prior to turning on MyWi
● Improved UI Switch on/off response

Times Square Don't be Evil Video
Steve Jobs responds to iTunes icon e-mail.
Apple announced the reason behind this change, however, saying that iTunes will likely surpass physical CD sales. So it's time to make CDs of thing of the past.
These changes have even triggered applications such as iTunes 109 that returns to look and feel of iTunes 9.
For those who wanted to see what he wrote.
Steve,
Enjoyed the presentation today. But...this new iTunes logo really sucks. You're taking 10+ years of instant product recognition and replacing it with an unknown. Let's both cross our fingers on this...
He simply wrote back with one of his brief, to-the-point emails:
We disagree.

And don't worry if you happen to change you mind. Simply run the installer and theres an option to remove any and all changes made to iTunes with iTunes 109.

Telcel Hints at iPhone Hardware update
As of September 30 Telcel will be available in new devices that do not have the malfunction of the reception and explained that the company will have several options to make changes from one phone to another flawed not to take: "If the previous plan is over, you will need to hire a new change for iPhone 4. If, for example, already has one and take three months for payment, change the cell with a re-employment and takes into account the previous time, so instead of paying 24 months, only done in 21."
It's unclear whether the statement has been verified by apple or the director of Telcel is simply assuming a hardware update will come out because of the end of Apple free bumper case program. Its’ possible, though unlikely, that Apple will announce something about a the iPhone 4’s reception problems.

Is Magic trackpad a viable choice?
Yay!- It does everything the magic mouse can do and more and because it's a large square you can effectively do gestures. That's a huge plus.
Nay- Although it is new and has a bunch of features some people prefer an actual mouse for large screens.
Should I buy it?
I cant really tell so I recommend going to the apple store and see for yourself and see what suites you the best.

Jailbreakme now Banned?
The Best Jailbreak Method Ever?
First of all it doesn't require a computer. What, no computer? Yep, no computer. That's because it's a browser based jailbreak. It uses a browser based exploit to be able to jailbreak your iPhone or iPod touch from the browser. Simply go to jailbreakme.com and slide the slider which says slide to jailbreak. Wait a couple of minutes and after it's complete you should have Cydia on your home screen.
Is it the easiest jailbreak method ever?
•Absolutely! Not only is it the easiest way, it works with all devices on all firmwares. But if you plan to have a jailbroken iPhone 4, you better buy it quick because apple just announced that they will be patching this exploit.

HTML5 Rocks!
Google Voice now Open for Everyone!
The thing was that it was not open to everyone. You had to fill out a form and after a lengthy period of time (For me it was a couple of weeks) you got an invite. Today Google announced that "after lots of testing and tweaking, we’re excited to open up Google Voice to the public, no invitation required." That means you head on to www.google.com/voice and create an account.
If you haven’t yet tried Google Voice or just heard about it, try it out and give Google some feedback. Apple and Google are some of the few companies that care about customer support. (IMHO) If haven’t seen what Google Voice can do yet, the video below provides a clear view of what it is, in about 2 minutes.
The Video is/was not made by LA Tech. As such, this video does not express or imply the opinions of LA Tech or its employees.

iOS4
iPod touch 1G- Sorry, no update
iPhone 2G- Nada here either
iPod touch 2G- Only some features including: Game Center, Unified Inbox, Folders, iBooks, iAds
iPhone 3G (Mine)- Also partial support. Game Center, Unified Inbox, Folders, iBooks, iAds
NOTE: (Icons and wallpapers don't go together on 3G-Steve (Paraphrasing). I think jailbreakers disagree)
iPod touch 3G- Multitasking, Folders, Game Center, Unified Inbox, iBooks, iAds, Wallpapers for Homescreen
iPhone 3GS: Multitasking, Folders, Game Center, Unified Inbox, iBooks iAds, Wallpapers for Homescreen
iPhone 4: Everything
iPad: iOS 4 update later this year
Major Changes
iOS4 brings minor usually unnoticed changes to iDevices as well as some major features. Some of the biggest ones are: Folders, Multitasking, Spellcheck, and springboard wallpaper. As well as iAds to some people.
Folders- Folders should be somewhat self explanatory. Some cool features about folders is that you just drag on app on another. It creates a folder intelligently named by the categories of each of the apps. A great perk is that it has amazing speed and integrates amazingly with OS. This will be most appreciated by Jailbreakers using categories.
Multitasking- Multitasking has long been the holy grail for iPhone users. Many complain that other phones can do it, so why doesn't the "magical" device do it. Simple: Apple only releases something when its rock-solid and utterly stable. Multitasking is no different. Especially when you do it better. Some apps which are "multitasking ready" don't really run in the background. They save where they left off and close. Comparable to "hibernate" on PCs.
Spellcheck- To me this is a feature I have been waiting for. It allows my iPhone to be better suited for work needs. If I'm unable to get home and need to work on something. I just open up notes and when finished email it. Now I don't have to painstakingly proofread myself on the tiny screen. Interestingly enough, spellcheck has recently become a nuisance to some who regularly swear on their phones. Auto-correct (bundled with spellcheck) now replaces profanity.
Springboard wallpaper- This is a feature I have been waiting endlessly for from apple. I happily download iOS4 even though it took me like 4 hours total. I knew it was worth it. I then tried to set it as my wallpaper. Didn't work. Eh... not too bad; 1-800 MY APPLE. 20 minutes with some guy who doesn't know what he is talking about. "Just reinstall" I've finally had enough and ask to speak with someone more senior. He begrudgingly agrees. The guy promptly says 3G is not supported. At least he knew what he was talking about. Sad, I say hangup and wish I had an iPhone 4. Anyways to all you lucky 3GS and New iPhone 4 owners :P Just kidding! Have fun!
